What is a sectarian aberration?
Based on the experience of the Miviludes (Interministerial Mission of vigilance and combat against sectarian aberrations), which receives 2000 reports per year, the sectarian aberration can be defined as follows:
The sectarian aberration
This is a perversion of the freedom of thought, of opinion or of religion that infringes on public order, laws and regulations, fundamental rights, security and integrity of persons. It is characterized by the implementation, by an organized group or a single individual, regardless of its nature or activity, of techniques which goal is to create, to maintain or exploit in a person a state of psychological or physical subjection, depriving the person of part of their free will, with adverse consequences for this person, their social environment or for society.
